Naples: dominated by the Mount Vesuvius, the
only active volcano in the european continent.
It is practically impossible to list all the
churches and monuments that you will find, some
of them are: the Cathedral dedicated to San
Gennaro, the city's patron, Castel dell'Ovo -
the city's oldest castle, the Royal Palace in
the Plebiscito Square; Spaccanapoli, the street
that splits the city from east to west; the
Teatro San Carlo, the Museum San Martino ai
Monti and the Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte.
The church and street of San Gregorio Armeno and
the wonderful Cappella San Severo are also worth
a visit. But Naples is also famous around the
world for his speciality: the Pizza, that was
invented here in 1889. That's why Naples
deserves a place among the tourist's
destinations in Italy. Visit Pompeii: visit the
excavations of this Roman town buried under the
ashes of nearby Vesuvius in 79 A.D. |

The Amalfi Coast, is a 50 kilometers stretch of
mountainous coastline situated just south of
Naples. It is well known worldwide for its
beautiful cliffs and is considered one of the
most romantic and unforgettable sites in Italy,
regarded by many as Europe's most beautiful
stretch of coast. It offers some spectacular and
breathtaking scenery with the narrow serpentine
road that clings to the coastal cliffs, plunging
and winding around the towering cliffs that fall
into the sea. You'll see Amalfi, the largest
town on this coast, with its remarkable Duomo,
famous for its glorious history as a maritime
republic; the picturesque and enchanting
Positano; the marvellous Ravello, a hill town
with the best views of the coast offered by the
Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone; and then
Furore, Maiori, Minori, Praiano. The Amalfi
Coast is a UNESCO world heritage site: after
your trip to the so called 'Divine Coast' you'll

Florence is one of the most beautiful city in
the world, the list of the artists associated
with this city is endless: Giotto, Donatello,
Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo,
Dante and many others. Because it's smaller than
Rome, you'll have an easier time wandering
around the city and getting a sense of what
Italian life must have been like during the
Renaissance. You'll see the enchanting
Michelangelo's David, one of the most famous
sculpture of all times, in front of The Palazzo
Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi, an open air
museum, located in the Piazza della Signoria.
The great Uffizi Gallery, a former palace of the
famous Medici family, generally regarded as one
of the top museums of the world, with its
collections of Italian Renaissance art. The
beautiful Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore in
front of the old Battistero inspired to the
Dante's Hell. From the top of the Campanile di
Giotto, 82 meters high, next to the Basilica,
you will enjoy a wonderful landscape view of the
city; while at the Ponte Vecchio (old bridge),
the oldest bridge in town crossing the river
Arno, you can buy nice (and expensive) silver
and gold. The Palazzo Pitti, one of the most
important palaces, built in 1450, and the church
Santa Maria Novella are some other treasures of
this wonderful and unforgettable city. |

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most
universally recognizable sites in all the world.
In 1990, the instability of the tower made it
necessary to close it to visitors, but
fortunately, now, thanks to modern engineering,
the tower and its 294 stairs are once again open
for climbing. The tower is only one component of
the beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli, that also
includes two other beautiful examples of Pisan
Romanesque architecture in the city: The Duomo (Cathedral),
the largest Romanesque church in Tuscany, The
Baptistery, and if you have time, visit Pisa's
other leaning tower at the Church of San Michele
degli Scalzi, is worth a look too. |

Spoleto is the ideal place for the tourist which
is looking for ancient and artistic sites. The
several remains of Umbrians walls testify the
ancient origin. Of all city's interesting
artistic and historical sites, the Duomo is the
best example of the harmonic stylistic evolution
that distinguishes the town. It's worth a visit
the Albornoz Fortress with its towers, erected
between 359 and 1370 by Cardinal Egidio Albornoz,
during the period in which the Papacy was exiled
to Avignon. Spoleto is important for several
institutions, for which it is known all over the
world: the Festival of Two Worlds, the

Todi - Gubbio |

Todi achieved its top during the Medieval period,
when it was enriched with splendid municipal
palaces and enchanting and religious buildings.
You can admire the Santa Maria della
Consolazione Church, the Piazza del Popolo and
the ancient arches with which the houses support
each other, but also the walls that are built
around or incorporate what is left of the
theatre of amphitheatre, such as announced by
the street names (such as Via dell'Anfiteatro
Romano). Gubbio is the most thoroughly medieval
of the Umbrian towns. Centre-stage is the
immense and austere fourteenth-century Palazzo
dei Consoli , whose crenellated outline and
98-metre campanile immediately grab your
attention; the setting is equally gorgeous with
the forest-clad mountains of the Apennines
rearing up behind. The lesser Palazzo Pretorio
opposite was built to the same plan. In the
Museo Civico you'll see the famous Eugubine
Tablets, Umbria's most important archeological
find. It's also worth a visit the Duomo, the
Palazzo Ducale and the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo. |
